When the infected lives long enough, it becomes a Bloater. The Last of Us Part 2 brings forward all the infected from its predecessor and throws a couple of new horrors into the mix. There are actually two new infected types to deal with in The Last of Us Part 2. The Infected are one of the main enemy types in The Last of Us, Left Behind, and The Last of Us Part II, the other being the human enemies.

Shamblers are a new infected type to join The Last of Us 2. Moreover, they release this acid before dying, so players should stay away once one begins to fall. These zombies may be rarer, but they’re more lethal than anything Ellie has ever come up against before.

Changes to Runners. In The Last of Us 2, Runners are now more numerous, and are more aggressive in comparison with the last game. They are like Bloaters, but instead of throwing spore bombs, they are capable of spraying an acid-like substance. The Last of Us Part 2 has made a few changes to the types of Infected.

New Infected.
The enemies in The Last of Us were already pretty scary, but since the game made it clear zombies get more powerful and deadly the longer the mutation wreaks havoc on their bodies, it only made sense to introduce a new type of infected into The Last of Us: Part 2 – the Shamblers. One is a bit of a spoiler for a later boss fight, so proceed with caution.


How to Kill Runners (Zombies) The Shambler. The first Last of Us game had four types of Infected: Runners, Stalkers, Clickers, and Bloaters.

The Infected are humans who have been infected and subsequently mutated into horrific new forms by the Cordyceps Brain Infection. The resulting creatures are aggressive, and will attack any uninfected human on sight.
